Follow these simple steps to make your transition with ease:
1. Open a new Piedmont Federal Account.

Once you’ve decided which account best meets your needs, visit the most convenient Piedmont Federal branch and we will open your account right away. Just bring the following:
- U. S. Social Security Number
- Valid form of North Carolina ID (driver’s license, state ID, military ID or passport)
- Current address
- Funds for your new account
2. Switch your direct deposit(s) to your new PFSB account.
Notify your employer and/or other sources that deposit funds into your old account that you are switching your checking account to Piedmont Federal. To set up direct deposit you will need:
- Your new Piedmont Federal account and routing number (we will provide you this information at account opening)
- Your old account number and bank routing number
- Your employer or institution’s address and phone number
- A voided check from your new Piedmont Federal account
- Direct Deposit Transfer Form (PDF)
For Direct Deposit from a Federal Agency (such as Social Security), please visit any branch to help you with the switch.

3. Redirect your automatic payments and drafts to your new PFSB account.
Transfer your automatic payments, such as recurring loan drafts, cable & internet service providers, utilities, membership fees, etc. from your former bank account to your new Piedmont Federal account. The following items will be needed:
- A copy of your latest billing statement with your billing information
- Your new Piedmont Federal account and routing number
- A voided check from your new Piedmont Federal account
- Former bank account information (for canceled payments)
- Automatic Payment Transfer Form (PDF)

4. Keep track of your switch to Piedmont Federal.
Use our simple Switch to Piedmont Federal Organizer (PDF) to track the information you need to switch automatic payments and deposits to your new Piedmont Federal Savings Bank account.
5. Close your old account(s).
Ensure that all checks, automatic deposits, withdrawals and payments have cleared before you close your account. Download and complete the Account Closing Form (PDF). Be sure to have the following handy:
- Your former bank account and routing/transit number
- Your former bank’s address and phone number
